From Fish In a Tree:
At Fish in a Tree Holiday Camp, located at the Mind Body Collective on 627 Opelousas Ave, New Orleans, LA 70114, we passionately cater to the unique needs of neurodivergent teens and young adults. Our camp is designed to foster a nurturing and neuro-accessible atmosphere where participants can explore their passions, develop skills, and forge meaningful connections with peers sharing similar experiences. With a wide array of carefully curated activities, including creative writing, improv theater, self-care workshops, interactive journaling, guided meditation, art projects, and self-guided free time to explore special interests, we create a space for self-expression, confidence building, emotional well-being, and creativity. We enthusiastically welcome your child to join us for this transformative adventure, fostering creativity, friendship, and personal growth in a safe, flexible, and accommodating setting. If you have any queries or need further information, please contact us at bridgette@fishinatreenola.org.
Our camp offers a wide range of engaging activities, carefully crafted to cater to the individual strengths and interests of our campers. Some of the activities include:
Our camp is more than just a fun experience; it’s an opportunity for your child to embark on a journey of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and personal growth. We believe in empowering our campers to embrace their uniqueness, building their confidence and resilience that will extend far beyond their time at camp.
We are committed to providing a neuro-affirming, neurodiversity perspective lens throughout our camps. We are dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where every camper can thrive, seen most readily in our alternative activities camp structure, small class sizes, and low instructor to camper ratios.
We are thrilled to have your child join us for this exciting journey of adventure, creativity, and the opportunity to build lifelong friendships. If you have any questions or need further information before the camp begins, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at bridgette@fishinatreenola.org
Please note that the week’s planned itinerary is subject to change based on campers’ interests and needs. Alternative independent activities will also be available during group work to suit each child’s needs and preferences. Flexibility is key to our program.
Throughout the week, we’ll provide plenty of opportunities for campers to bond, share their experiences, and develop lasting friendships. Our neighborhood excursions are designed to help campers feel more connected to their community while practicing social skills and independence.
Please ensure your child comes to camp with comfortable clothing and shoes for walking outdoors, a water bottle, a packed lunch, a journal (or notebook) and pens (or pencils), any necessary accommodations or medications, and any preferred personal or comfort items for free time like personal electronics (all electronics that make noise must have headphones or earbuds), a favorite blanket, or fidgets, etc. We’re excited to provide a safe, nurturing, and neuro-accessible environment for your child’s personal growth and development.
At Fish in a Tree, we understand the unique and diverse needs of neurodivergent tweens and teens aged 13-18. Our camp is designed to provide a nurturing and neuro-accessible environment where your child can not only explore their passions but also cultivate new skills and build meaningful connections with peers who share similar experiences.
